Achievements


In 2007, The Banker magazine endorsed Standard Bank as the Emerging Markets Bank of the Year, as well as Bank of the Year for Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. In the same year, it was the only South African bank to feature in the Global Trade Review’s annual readers’ poll of banks and providers in trade services, and was voted the leading trade services bank in sub-Saharan Africa.
For two consecutive years (2006 and 2007), we have been selected as the Best Bank in South Africa by the Euromoney Awards for Excellence, regarded as the most respected awards in the financial services industry. In addition, Standard Bank won the Best Project Finance House in Africa and the Best Debt House in Africa awards in 2007.
In 2007, international publication Global Finance named us the Best Bank in South Africa as well as the best Foreign Exchange and Trade Finance Bank in South Africa. In the category of the World’s Best Investment Banks, we were named the Best Debt Bank in the Middle East / Africa category.
In a poll conducted by African Business magazine, we were ranked the best overall of 100 top African banks.
