The 2008 Narrative Journalism Conference

The Narrative Journalism Conference was borne out of the need to provide training for senior reporters seeking to cover the complex South African story. It has now expanded to include a continent-perspective, providing a forum for debate, an exchange of ideas and practical training in the craft of writing.

This year’s conference, sponsored by Standard Bank, strove to deepen the understanding of narrative journalism as a tool to cover complex stories of transition, development and socio-economic issues in Africa. Reporters, editors, writers and journalism students from across Africa attended the two-day event.
